As a company, we are driven by the same collective vision: an uninterrupted and highly efficient global supply chain where robots do the dirty work and people do the human work.   Vecna Robotics seeks an experienced Project Engineer II with experience deploying complex automated handling systems.  Working alongside Project Managers and Deployment Engineers, the Project Engineer II will be responsible for developing the technical scope of customer projects and participating in the design and technical oversite from inception to system acceptance. This role will participate in customer facing meetings both remotely and on site to cover technical areas such as functional requirements specification, general arrangement drawings, workflow planning, risk assessments, and post deployment performance analysis.  The Project Engineer II is a critical, hands-on role with direct involvement in all aspects of deploying autonomous solutions. The ideal candidate has deployment experience, is excited about automation with a proven track record of excellence in commissioning various solutions at customer sites. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Deployment, this is a fulltime, salaried role based in Waltham, MA. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.   • Participate in scoping visits at client sites including defining project scope and gathering requirements with the customer. 
  • Develop functional requirements specifications which provide the roadmap for the deployment team to execute projects
  • Participate in Risk Assessment visits and generation of RA reports to the customer  
  • Create detailed engineering drawings to communicate the planned routes of our AMRs
  • Review and synthesize all project requirements to identify any technical risks which can be mitigated through more fitting workflows or development when necessary
  • Identify and plan application tests to be conducted in our facility to prove out product capabilities in line with project requirements
  • Identify critical performance metrics which will be used by the customer to evaluate the successful implementation of the project. Develop methods to gather the data to calculate the metrics, or work with our analysts to develop new dashboard features as needed
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in deployment; help develop the skills and problem-solving capabilities of junior deployment team members
  • Support the creation of comprehensive documentation that details features and parameters for deployment engineers and assist in standardizing internal processes for streamlined deployments.
  • Proactively identify and address issues during project execution, collaborating cross-functionally to mitigate impacts on timelines and budgets.
  • Drive continuous improvement of standards, processes, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and communication with a lean approach.
  • Travel will be required (~25%). 

 What we are looking for: 

  • 2+ years of deployment engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in the deployment of autonomous solutions at customer sites. 
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or a related technical discipline. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in CAD (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) with experience creating, designing and communicating workflows both internally and externally. Ability to interpret and adjust site layouts, ensuring plans align with project requirements and customer needs. Strong technical skills and attention to detail required to identify, mitigate, or resolve issues that are discovered at various stages of the project.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate project information across all stakeholder levels.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a willingness to adapt to change and proceed on decisions made with varying levels of uncertainty.  
  • Experience using metrics and data analysis to support and drive beneficial process improvements.  
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual, preferred.
